Hand Painted Pet Portraits

It’s no secret to those around me that I’m an avid animal lover. In college, I was the person who never turned away a friend’s pet when they could no longer care for them. At one time, I had a tank full of lizards and frogs and also cared for the large jar of crickets they ate. I had a box turtle, a freshwater fish tank, a rabbit, a parakeet, and a cat named Aslan.

I enjoy painting animals as much as I like photographing them in nature. Although it is a lot harder to capture their character in a painting, it is something I started doing for friends as a way to honor their pets. Because we all have close bonds with our animals, I like the idea of memorializing them with a painted portrait - just like royalty did for centuries.
